Happy African Day. Today, I will discuss the concept behind Wakanda’s envisioned African Utopia, should it not have been colonised.

The Black Panther movie, provides the notion that Vibranium is the source of Wanakanda’s success. However, that it not the case. The modernist thought of Utopia through the advancement of technology was already disregarded with the results of the first World War. In other words, Wakanda can have Vibranium, but it would not have been successful, as with African countries, they have wealth and resources, however they still miss to practice things which will put them at the level of Wakanda.

There are mainly three things that makes Wakanda to be the envisioned African utopia, which many if not all African countries, and especially Namibia is failing at.

Accepting histories and not just History

The Wakandian tribes draw heavily from the postmodernist thought, of viewing History not with a capital letter H, but histories. These tribes accepted one another, and their differences and were willing to come to mutual agreement. Something which modern, African tribes, still are unable to do, especially here in Namibia. Tribalism is still being practiced and thus foresting hatred, division and destruction amongst African nations. Tribes are left to fight more than build our nations and countries.

Wakanda practices sustainable development

This is demonstrated in Shuri’s desire to design in more function able gadgets and invest in the sustainability of Vibranium. Namibia still makes use of the phrase, “if it is not broken don’t fix it”. However, the world is changing and we need to always have a back-up plan. You do not have to wait until something goes wrong, in order for you to start, purchasing replacements. We need to plan ahead.  This could also be seen in the desire to not allow, Killmonger’s plan of allowing the weapons to leave Wakanda. Should the weapons have left Wakanda more chaos would have been brought to Wakanda. The world would never have accepted Wakanda’s aim of being about world peace, especially that it was African.

Wakanda’s late king, King T’Chaka accepted his mistakes and T’Challa decided to rectify them

It could be concluded, to a large extend that the late King T’Chaka of killing Killmonger’s father and leaving him fatherless, contributed extensively to what Killmonger became – a revengeful killer.  We later find out that King T’Chaka’s action, had not only a good motive behind it, but a selfish one as well – for his son to be the only heir of the Wakanda throne. Nonetheless, the challenge which King T’Chaka attempted to avoid by leaving his brother’s son behind; still took place, many years later.

This is exactly what is happening in many African countries and especially Namibia. The consequences of the deals, debt and decisions made previous and current African leaders; are left for this generation, to pay. Fortunately, in the movie, T’Challa’s father accepted his mistake which T’Challa attempted to rectify. But are current African and young African leaders attempting to rectify anything?

Digiafro is the umbrella body under which digiafropreneur and digifreelancer lay.

Digiafropreneur is an online school which provides courses to attempt to solve problems that millennials are experiencing
(outlined in the problem section); under the theme Zeitgeist.   Zeitgeist is a German word, which is defined as the defining spirit or mood of a particular period of history, as portrayed by the ideas and beliefs of the time.

In this project I will be focusing on the Zeitgeist of era ranging from 2010 to 2020, and the opportunities and challenges available to millennials to make extra money while providing meaningful services to their counterparts.

This week I managed to complete the themes, from which I will be working until the final. On top of that I have also managed to come up with the different colour swatches, however I can’t decide on which one.

Please comment on your favourite and why. It’s for an online school.

Since 2003, the month of October has been marked as the period of celebration for BKDS Productions.

This year is no different.

BKDS 2017 YEAR THEME

This year’s theme is the year of fulfillment.

Today, I was so shocked when  someone I just met a few weeks called me and tells me that her house was broken into and they have stolen her cellphone, and three hard drive.

She was so shocked and could not believe it. I told her it was normal, this things happen and are real.

This kind of behaviour is referred to as domiciliary witchcraft, it is not the magic like in the Originals or something, however it can go to that level, but for now I am talking in the first domain. The natural state, where people you trust are who are destroying you. In my mother tongue, oshiwambo; there is a saying that goes “what eats the bean is what is inside with it”. Beans are usually in a pod shell, now if there is a worm or insect inside, you will not see it, but it will devour the beans therein. That is the same with these people. They are usually close to you and they know everything about you.

In this cases the worst thing is that the victim can never bring themselves to accept or understand that it is that person.

If you find such a person in your life you the following can help:

  1. You need to completely disconnect from them.

The reason why they hurt you so bad, was that they new too much about you. If you find out who they really are the best thing to do is to stay away from them. If they are so close as your siblings or spouse, then avoid telling them of your future plans. If you are with a snake act like one or else it will bit you. It is not always that there’s an antidote for the venom.

2. You need to understand that it is not about you

Most of the time, victims end up thinking that they have done wrong. This type of behaviour draws from the beginning of time. Abel never did anything to Cain, he was just minding his own business, but Cain ended up killing him. They always see what you do not see. When you think you are too fat, too short or too tall, to them you have something they do not have. But instead of them focusing on changing or becoming better, they focus on you instead. To eliminate you.

Part 2 next week.
